Capturing a Moment with YABhg Tun Dr. Mahathir Mohamad: A Timeless Portrait
I recently had the opportunity to photograph YABhg Tun Dr. Mahathir Mohamad at his office in Perdana Leadership Foundation, Putrajaya. The brief and intimate session allowed me to capture a classic black and white portrait of the 99-year-old statesman.
Shot with a vintage lens from 1975, the image has a distinct, timeless quality that I feel suits the subject perfectly. It was a privilege to have the chance to photograph YABhg Tun Dr. Mahathir Mohamad, and I am grateful for the trust that he placed in me to capture his portrait.

Waiting for Better Days
“My five year old daughter, Aireen, and I filled our days with activities – including photography. Of all the pictures we took, this one stood out; it is a sunny day outside but we are trapped inside – hoping that the world would be better soon.“
The portrait, one of nearly 1200 art entries from across the UK, was honored with a runner-up prize and subsequently displayed on the walls of the esteemed Ashmolean Museum in Oxford, the country’s oldest public museum.
The competition was judged by:
- Xa Sturgis, Director of the Ashmolean
